Manufacturing Ethics
A key component of our business identity centers on our relationships with our manufacturing partners and the way in which we mutually conduct business. To that end Dorm-In-A-Box® subscribes to the provisions and spirit of the groundbreaking 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights document as well as the 1999 International Labour Organization Convention for the Elimination of Child Labour. We have established specific guidelines for our manufacturing partners around the world. Our supplier selection criteria require that all factories with whom we contract meet this Manufacturing Standards & Criteria Statement. Further, we engage in a formal certification process for our suppliers and subject them to continuous review with the potential for surprise audits.
Dorm-In-A-Box® believes that our Manufacturing Standards & Criteria Statement document serves to ensure that decent and humane working conditions are provided for all those engaged in endeavors associated with our work. Manufacturing facilities that are found to be in violation of our Manufacturing Standards & Criteria Statement are subject to corrective action whereupon we strive to correct said deficiencies in the interest of all parties. We terminate our contract relationships with those partners who choose not to remedy, or those who delay corrective action.
Ultimately our goal is two-fold; to ensure that individuals engaged through partnership with Dorm-In-A-Box® are treated in a fair, consistent, and humane manner and that consumers have confidence in purchasing labor-friendly products that we bring to market.
